Travel Poem

One of the worst things about travel
Is having to wait,
With your bags all packed up
At the airport with nowhere to go,
Standing in line waiting
Only to have to wait some more as you find out
That your flight has been delayed 2 hours.

Then once on the plane
You wait some more,
In a crowded monotone cabin
Stuffy and cramped, squashed together with
People like yourself, doing nothing but simply-“fancily waiting”
Eyes and ears plugged in
To boring devices streaming cheesy music and movies,
On a grueling 12 hour flight.

Till you step out of the cockpit
Onto firm ground, a cool breeze brushing up
Shoals of playful cherry blossoms about your face-
You turn to your friend, tucking a loose strand behind your ear
And you know that it was worth it.
