Summer Rain Photography

When it rains in the summer, it gives off such an odd feeling. I don't know whether to be happy about it or slightly worried that something might be a bit off with the world.
But, that being said, it's so nice when it rains.......X)<3

Now that it's the beginning of August, having it so suddenly kind of makes me look forward to the coming of colder weather. Sweaters, boots, warm blankets and hot chocolate...AND listening to the rain.

I have a roof extension over my backyard, so when it rains it really pours. The sounds, however light, are magnified as each torrent of droplets makes it's way towards the earth and bounces off the aluminum.

It's such a comforting feeling to be able to listen to the sounds, especially when you are indoors, and watching everything outside being slowly drenched. On rainy days things seem calmer and more at peace, you can get to sleep easier as well; and I love it because it reminds me that nature is doing it's work.

As the rain comes down it cleanses everything it comes into contact with, thereby creating room for new life and washing away the old murkiness.

For this post I chose two pictures I took of rain falling against the asphalt in a parking lot to try and capture that mood. It may not be summer rain exactly, but I really like these two pictures because they have a very mysterious, almost gloomy, air to them.

I love how the car and surrounding building's images are reflected in the puddles of water, and how you can see the the ripples. Could these photos hold a deeper meaning regarding the relationship between modern society and nature, instead of just being a capture of a simple rainfall?

You are free to interpret.

Honestly, I never would've thought that a picture of something like asphalt water could be beautiful, but I think these two pictures kind of sums up my thoughts.

Everything in life has it's own beauty to it, you only have to pay attention to perceive it.

Come swiftly, cold weather; I miss you:)
